Ordering and Installation

I’d like to share my experience with EBOX.

The first step was to order the service on their website. In my case, I’m fortunate to have the choice between cable and fiber in my area. EBOX is now owned by Bell, so for fiber, they use Bell’s network. You’ll also notice that the prices are very competitive for fiber optics. At the time of writing this, it’s $45 for 500 Mbps upload and download.

That being said, I initially ordered the 300 Mbps internet at $50 per month, which includes a Nokia Beacon 2 Wi-Fi router and an ONT (fiber optic modem).

My family is still attached to traditional television, so I added the À la Carte 10 TV package for $37.40, which includes a terminal and 100 hours of cloud recording. I’d like to share my experience so far.

Sign-Up and Equipment Delivery

First, I signed up online and paid for the first full month. A few days later, I received the pre-configured Nokia Beacon 2 router with my account information.

Fiber Installation

A few days after receiving the router, I received a call from EBOX to schedule the fiber installation. Fiber was only recently available, and I was subscribed to cable service. A Bell technician installed the fiber up to my house and set up a fiber modem (Nokia ONT). Once the router was connected to the ONT modem, my internet was functional without needing any further configuration or activation.

Service Performance

I ran a few speed tests and achieved speeds slightly above what was promised, both in download and upload.

Compared to cable, this is a significant improvement. Before, I had much lower download and upload speeds. Faster upload speeds are particularly useful for remote work since you need good upload speed as much as download speed when connecting to your company’s network. Another notable advantage of fiber optics is the low ping latency. The ping response time is considerably reduced compared to cable, which is very appealing. But the most interesting point is that I improved my internet connection while reducing the cost compared to cable.

Areas for Improvement

Despite these many advantages, I encountered some issues with customer service. Several times, I felt that the agents were overwhelmed and didn’t have all the necessary information to answer my questions. There were even times when I waited for a callback without the agent knowing the reason for my call. This lack of internal coordination can be frustrating for customers.

In Conclusion

Overall, I’m satisfied with my experience with EBOX. However, it would be desirable for the company to improve its customer service to offer an even more satisfying experience.

I highly recommend EBOX to anyone looking for a reliable and high-performance internet connection, but it’s important to keep in mind that customer service may sometimes require patience.

If you’re interested in EBOX and found this review helpful, don’t hesitate to add me as a referral and receive a $25 credit for yourself, while EBOX will also grant me a $25 credit.
